Sounds like a plan.

That sounds like a lot of stretch for t-members; was something else going on, too? A few millimeters, for sure; maybe even...5 or 6, but not an in.
ch and a half.
Something to factor in in design/setup= setting ten member a bit short- compression member starts above horizontal, comes to horizontal as load gets to max

I was thinking that when I glued the tension members while in tension I would add the little bit of 'preload' angle that I was looking for... Obviously didn't work :D Not quite sure why they stretched so much, is there any specific cross sections of wood that tend to stretch more than another?

Either preloading- so they're stretched out as far as they will be at full load, or measuring the stretch, and then building/mounting that much short will work. Second option is easier at these kinds of forces.
Cross-section, as in shape, not sure. As long as cross section is enough to give tensile strength needed, amount of stretch should be about the same

Regionals? dang! I barely finished mine! It weighs 19 g right now, but it can carry a full load. If I had more time, I could have made the compression into balsa from bass. Hopefully, I can calibrate a better one before states.

I've been steadily increasing. I started out with about a score of 150 and am up on 430 now.

I'm looking to get ~750 before the end of January. I don't know how those scores compare to others, but as long as we keep improving, I'm satisfied.

The winning score at my regional was 1027, pretty impressive considering how early it was.
Seems like States this year will be more competitive than usual for balsa structure events.

WOO HOO! Went to regionals on Saturday! We did much better than anyone else, but there was some mix-up, and we did not even place! We talked to the event coordinator and they looked over the results today and it turned out we did get 1st place! We got 777 for our score for division B (that's relatively low but God willing, it will get better ;) ) Thank God we did good, and thanks to everyone who helped me!

777 is pretty good for div. B from what I understand
