Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
Will R&M be like fossils and focus on some history and individual specimens or will you also have to know different cycles?
as in cycles that create rocks and minerals
as in cycles that create rocks and minerals

Sure! Check out trial rules on the website - it outlines it pretty nicely._anatomy_ wrote:Will R&M be like fossils and focus on some history and individual specimens or will you also have to know different cycles?

Do they have anything about rock layers?

Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
intrusive igneous rocks form when magma cools inside earth. It cools slowly, and is therefore coarser grained.
Extrusive ig. rock forms when lava cools on the surface. Generally it cools quickly. The rock is finer grained.

...Yes... Add that to the wiki, why don't you? Or, just, y'know, edit and get medals. Medals are nice.Cheesy Pie wrote:intrusive igneous rocks form when magma cools inside earth. It cools slowly, and is therefore coarser grained.

I suppose it's time for me to go and start editing the wiki then.Kokonilly wrote:...Yes... Add that to the wiki, why don't you? Or, just, y'know, edit and get medals. Yay, I get to feel helpful again! =)

Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
When gneiss (the rock, not the SciOlyer) experiences heat & pressure, what does it metamorphose into? Assuming it metamorphoses into anything.

Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
It's the final stage of foliated metamorphic rock. So it gets metamorphosed...into more gneiss.Cheesy Pie wrote:When gneiss (the rock, not the SciOlyer) experiences heat & pressure, what does it metamorphose into? Assuming it metamorphoses into anything.
Though if you gneiss from the surface and then start applying heat and pressure, I'm pretty sure it'll go through the cycle again just like any other rock, starting with slate. I'm not 100% sure about that though (I haven't taken Petrology yet)
