I believe there is some mechanism for two teams to go to Nats in a case where there is no clear winner, maybe we will see both Arden and Churchill at Nationals (the more the merrier)!
That's correct. 1st tiebreaker is # of golds, 2nd is # of silvers, 3rd is # of bronzes, etc. etc. There is no mechanism for additional teams going to nationals - too many things would get messed up by having 61 instead of 60 teams.

Just to clarify, Arden won 8 golds and Churchill won 5 golds.

Arden is NOT going, unless they can suceed in arbitration, which is quite difficult.

NoCal can only send one school from each division, so it looks like Churchill's going!

Congratulations, Churchill!

Illinois Div B: Daniel Wright and Marie Murphy (Our school sat in front of South, who went last year- they were so disappointed).
And Div C: New Trier Winnetka and Stevenson
There once was a group of teens
Who were lean mean science machines.
They liked to win medals,
when everything settles
and their favorite color was green.

I think disappointed is a little bit of an understatement... I was on the team last year and my brother is now... I think everyone was crying... it also didn't help that they really wanted to go to honor one of their main coaches, Katie Kaufman, who is retiring, by going to Nats. This is the second time in 27 years that South has not gone to Nationals. Good Luck Daniel Wright, Marie Murphy, New Trier, and Stevenson!

I just noticed on the Colorado SO website that Poudre High School did not win the Colorado state tournament, which I think is surprising since Poudre has won for 9 straight years and got 12th at Nationals last year. Anyway, congrats to Cheyenne Mountain High School! Several notable streaks have been broken this year, it seems.
