Is it allowed to bring in a salinometer device that consists of multiple separate components/to bring in multiple devices?
i've brought in multiple salinometers before, but some ESs might be more strict. also i find that salinometer testing doesnt tend to be v regulated like at one competition, any team could get up at any time to test w/o any one watching.
last year we took 3 salinometers and a glass beaker and they let it in at the regional and state. We asked as we went in and the ES said there is nothing in the rules about allowing only ONE. our salinometer was made from plastic dropper though, not any elaborate digital ones. also we did not use the glass beaker we took, we had to use the saline container they provided (which was shallower than the beaker we took)
No, your salinometer can only have separate parts if they're connected somehow(I submitted a faq on this last year)bp31000 wrote: ↑February 26th, 2020, 4:00 pmlast year we took 3 salinometers and a glass beaker and they let it in at the regional and state. I believe that is the official statement. However, regional/state/invitational proctors often do not check FAQs or sometimes even do not know the rules. It will be up to the proctor, though risking losing points on that section for a minor advantage in accuracy would in my opinion not be the wisest decision. You can also print out the FAQs to show to proctors if they disagree.hmmm wrote: ↑February 26th, 2020, 7:48 pmNo, your salinometer can only have separate parts if they're connected somehow(I submitted a faq on this last year)bp31000 wrote: ↑February 26th, 2020, 4:00 pmlast year we took 3 salinometers and a glass beaker and they let it in at the regional and state.
