IMSA's pretty fun. Lots more specialized science classes. More work though, especially if you do a lot of extracurriculars.
Whether or not to go really depends on each person's own situation.

The classes at IMSA are pretty good at teaching what they're intended to teach, especially the science and math electives. The thing is, they don't teach specifically to a curriculum, the AP's, for example. So yeah, if you want to take APs, you'll have to self-study a bit. But really, if you want to excel anywhere in a certain topic, you'll need to self-study. Don't we do that for SciOly anyway? :]

Your statement isn't entirely false; teachers are always open to questions, and with IMSA's block scheduling system, you often have 25 - 50 min. breaks in the middle of school during which you can go talk to your teachers to learn more, review class material, get to know them better, etc.

Parents need to understand that their kids are going to leave the nest eventually :P IMSA allows for that, but doesn't totally remove the parent from the picture the way college might, and in that sense, I think it's an amazing place to grow and develop as a person :D

Word of advice though... Don't skip your freshman year. It's a year of state-funded education. Take it, exploit it, and learn your most from it, both socially and academically.

Ehehe, my bad about advertising IMSA lol...
So... we're screwed next year with the 7 senior max rule? Our team this year was 9 juniors, 2 sophs, and 4 seniors ><

SciOly teams of division C (high school) can only have a maximum of seven seniors. Since we have 9 juniors this year, we will need to cut 2 to accommodate the rule next year as the juniors become seniors.

You can be admitted into IMSA as either an 8th grader or a freshman. If you decide to go as an 8th grader, you skip your freshman year at your normal high school and enter directly into IMSA as a sophomore.
