I keep on forgetting to ask, but for the vocalizations, should we know songs as well as calls? Vocalization is a rather broad category. I'm pretty fluent in the "typical voice" of my birds that are found on allaboutbirds.org, however there are also mating calls and other calls as well as songs. Should I know all of them?

That was a question asked before in this thread, and we pretty much came up with...yes. I don't think we ever asked for a clarification though.

this suddenly popped into my head, but does anyone know or have an idea about whats going to be tested on the eggs of the birds? i have info about the clutch size, egg color, incubation days, etc., but now im starting to wonder if they might test what the eggs look like at the states competition. does anyone have any ideas? thanks

It's probably a good idea to know the more noticeable ones i.e. robin eggs, but if the aren't really special I wouldn't think you need to know the exact size etc.

boneclones.com has a picture of about 36 of the most common types of eggs. It's pretty compact, let's you compare sizes, and shows colors. I would reccomend putting it in your notes. I did.

also, another question: should we know the internal anatomy of birds? cuz i put a pic of that on my cheat sheet, but now i dont know if i should keep it, cuz i want to make room for other things...any help?

woah we're supposed to know eggs? where do you get information, besides for pictures, because I've only been able to find stuff on how to raise a bird egg and somehow I don't think that is going to be helpful.

on allaboutbirds.org, they have information about clutch size, egg size, egg color, incubation period, etc. u just have to look up the specific bird. what i did was put the information in the field guide, so i can find it when i flip to that bird. however, i didnt have any pictures of bird eggs, and i was wondering if i should know them.

WOW! i'm freaking out... because I just bought a very nice bird book called : Birds of North America. it's a DK publication from the American Museum of Natural History.
but... it's really big. and the rules say, "teams may bring one published field guide"
so is this several-pound textbook okay to use? I'm not really sure. because i think that it's ok cause it doesn't say encyclopedia anywhere and the front says "the complete photographic GUIDE to every species"
so... i think i'm okay, what do you think?
