I am using a foam board but I originally used wood. Wood is the most sturdy and foam plates are the least. But in my experience, a foam poster board is the best in terms of sturdiness to weight ratio.

Has anyone tried a giant hole in the center for the skirt? My skirt is not easily replaceable (because it is underneath all the motors and shielding), so I was wondering if I should cut out a hole in the center or keep my current design of tiny holes on the bottom.

Also, does anybody know if it is better to make the skirt inflate a lot or to have it barely inflated?

It would be better to find a way to prototype the open bottom. I built it like 10 times with dofferent materials until i found the best conpination

Yea it's about the best for your personal device. Some hovers may need a high lift skirt design just to lift enough to move, while others a low friction design to start hitting better time scores. It's all about what works for you

Edit: when I started hover earlier this year I was not a big believer in experimentation to find the solution as I had never done a build event before, but wow it really does work

I'm assuming you're not trying to go heavier. right?

Just for clarification, we are calling that a wall skirt.

do NiMH batteries lose voltage faster the more you use them? Since I've started testing the batteries have been getting "weaker" from their top voltage faster. Is this expected? Could it be from overcharging because I charge them with a 3A current?
