Is that too much for a 3000mah 8.4 volt NiMH? Keep in mind that I am also adding a push motor to the same circuit. (Which is also about 4 amps). Will it damage the battery and will it allow for a lot of testing? Right now I'm not worried about wire gauge, but is there anything else that could be a problem?
I believe that the static pressure is good right? Or is it too overkill?

Oh, and I was reading this forum but can not find anywhere that discusses the push motor CFM for 2000g. Can someone give me a link?

If you have a powerful enough lift fan where you can poke tons of tiny holes in your skirt, that will decrease the friction by a large amount. Then you don't have to have that powerful of a fan. Just find a brushed fan with high torque and RPM and find a prop, mount it, and BAM you win nats. .... well maybe.

I ordered this fan from Digikey and instead of the green one shown in the picture, the actual fan was black and the label on it says it takes 5.8 amps. It is able to lift two kilograms, and that battery will probably be more than enough to power it. The only problem is that we can only get about half an hour of testing in before it stops lifting. Good luck.

Okay, thanks. I wonder why the specs are different from the actual fan?

I looked at the competition venues on the Wright State website, and they were using non-steel tracks on the bottom. Does this mean that these are the types of tracks that are going to be used?

The national ES for hovercraft will bring his own steel tracks to the national tournament

I'm pretty sure he's replaced the metal surface with melamine after having lots of issues with it. Note that the Div C and Div B tracks will be different types.
