UGA team list:

Brookwood High School (2)
Cedar Springs Homeschool
Chattahoochee High School (2)
Duluth High School (2)
East Coweta High School (2)
Fulton Science Academy
Johns Creek High School (2)
Meadowcreek High School
Newnan High School (2)
North Gwinnett High School (2)
North Springs Charter High School
Northview High School
Parkview High School (2)
Southeast Bulloch High School
Starr’s Mill High School
Walton High School
Whitewater High School
Woodward Academy (2)
Total: 27

Looks like the buildings for events and homerooms are much closer together this year (although how big is the SLC Lobby to be able to fit all of the building events?)
Does anyone know what the location for awards is like? The schedule just says "Pharmacy" with no mention of which Pharmacy building, nor a room number or other identifier like last year.
Ohey I just noticed and had to ask... FSA has a high school scioly team now??

Yeah they just started it this year since the school added a 9th and 10th grade (not sure if there are any 10th graders on the team though). I figure it's likely that they're also bringing a few 8th graders to this tournament too, for the experience.

To any members who competed at UGA this past weekend, does anyone know if and when schools will receive the summative score sheet?

When I asked, they said by Monday (which if we get it then I'll post full scores & medal counts, plus some analysis for others to tear apart ;) )

UGA Invitational Results:
The UGA scores did not include Electric Vehicle, and since I haven't yet gotten a response on whether or not this was a mistake, I've listed teams in their order; however, the scores (and ranks if they change) when Electric Vehicle is included are labeled in red. Also note that no-shows were scored as 35th place, even though their were 27 teams. Format - (point score - 1sts/2nds/3rds)

1. Chattahoochee A (139 - 4/3/2) (148)
2. Chattahoochee B (150 - 7/1/2) (185, 4th)
3. Johns Creek A (161 - 1/0/4) (168, 3rd)
4. Walton (164 - 3/3/1) (165, 2nd)
5. Brookwood A (186 - 1/2/3) (195)
6. Duluth A (236 - 0/1/3) (242)
7. Northview (241 - 1/1/2) (251)
8. Brookwood B (266 - 0/1/0) (301)
9. Johns Creek B (320 - 0/0/0) (355, 14th)
10. Woodward A (324 - 0/0/0) (335, 11th)

Random Thoughts:
  • Chattahoochee winning first and second place even with split teams and at least one No Show on each team bodes well for their future success.
  • Johns Creek is looking very strong this year, placing two teams in the top ten, and beating several regular top 5 teams.
  • Brookwood is actually substantially more split than they appear (although still less than last year), so they'll still likely to pretty well this season. Also consider that last year, they also placed 4th as a school at their second tournament of the year, and with a weaker showing at Rockdale too. However, they still did a lot worse than expected, with their semi-stacked team falling behind both Chattahoochee teams, even though Chattahoochee B took 70 points from no shows.
  • Walton and Northview did fairly well considering that both brought only one team of likely randomly selected people (based on previous experience with Chattahoochee last year) to the tournaments. Walton is probably getting quite a few Dodgen grads, and depending on how good Milton and Johns Creek, they might make a return to the top 5. Northview however has been placing substantially lower over the past few years at invitationals, although they have still managed to be very successful at state.
  • Duluth pretty solidly broke away from the rest of the pack as expected, finishing far above the next tier of teams. Based on results from here and Rcokdale, they'll probably remain in the top 10 again.

Forsyth Central Team List:

Forsyth Central (2)
Brookwood (3)
Chattahoochee (3)
Milton (2)
South Forsyth (2)
GSMST (2)
Starr’s Mill
Rockdale Magnet (2)
Northgate (2)
West Forsyth (2)
Lambert (3)
Alpharetta (2)
Eagles Home Educators
Collins Hill
Pope
River Ridge (2)
Johns Creek (2)
Total: 33 teams

UGA invite original Google form stated that building events were optional and would not count in score totals. More teams would have brought devices had they believedo that they counted.

Yeah, I was also expecting them not to count (do you know what's with Electric Vehicle not counting?). Thanks for the note about that; Duluth No Showed twice, so I guess they're probably a bit better than they appear (although Johns Creek, Walton, Brookwood, and Northview brought all builds for their best team).

Unome and Jaol,
Good luck at Central Forsyth.
Same goes for my Milton, Lambert and South Forsyth peeps. You know who you are.

Eagles Home Educators - (0/1/0 - 1) - 1
West Forsyth - (0/0/1 - 1) - 2

Results and analysis TBA

I personally am pretty happy, since I medaled in three of my events (still trying to figure out which of our teams won Remote), and we won all three medals in Dynamic Planet.

Edit: Looks like I won Remote alone 8-)

Forsyth Central Results:

Important Caveat: The ranks and scores assigned to certain teams often do not correspond with the actual students who won that medal, depending on what kind of information the event supervisor submitted to scoring (e.g. I know for certain that WIDI is as accurate as it can be, since all team names were submitted to scoring, whereas I know for certain that several other events were not given with team names on the even scoresheet because I compiled the info from the tests). Because of this, there's really no point in me posting ranking and point scores here or doing any sort of analysis, since well over half of the events have ranks assigned to the wrong teams (I counted 14 for our team, possibly more because of the way the event scoresheets were formatted) very little knowledge can be gained from the scoresheet. The tournament provided two scoresheets, one with max points=18 and one with max points=max teams. An image of the scoresheet is embedded below (can't attach a doc, probably because this is an edit).

(and I really was looking forward to giving this tournament a decent review too... sigh)

Did anyone take a picture of spreadsheet of who won the event places 1-10?
