Hi folks, my pal Freed2003 would like to know how to calculate UTM coordinates.

If the test asks for the UTM coordinates do you give the east or the north? Or both?

It's been awhile since I've done Road, but iirc they usually give you blanks to write both. Also in terms of finding it (I don't know how to quote 2 posts at once so I'll answer the above question here), there were landmark coordinates along the sides of the map, and then we had a little grip that we could put over the map to find the actual coordinates

Does anyone know if we are allowed to bring graphing calculators to the competitions.

It doesn't say anything in the rules, although I've always brought a scientific and have observed the same with other teams.

As far as I'm concerned, you're not allowed to bring in any programable device. The reason for this, is that you can sneak in extra answers/notes or get outside help. As far as I'm concerned, these include but are not limited to Phones, computers, tablets, certain watches, and Graphing calculators. Even if it doesn't say it in the rules, it's common courtesy to follow these rules in competition. It's best to bring a scientific calculator. I can't think of any equating in Road Scholar which would require more than a scientific calculator.

Have any of you guys ever seen a test question pertaining to the types of roads? (ex. boulevards, avenues, lanes, etc)

I've seen tests where it requires you to write the suffix along with the road name to get points, but I haven't seen any questions directly asking about this.

How do you find the date a quadrangle was made? There seems to be a lot of dates at the bottom left
