Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that develops when a person's immune system sends faulty signals that tells skin cells to grow too quickly. The body does not shed the excess skin cells. Instead, they pile up on the surface of the skin, forming red scaly patches.
There are 5 main types: plaque, guttate, inverse, postular, and erythrodermic.
Treatment: Topical corticosteriods are most effective when used continuously for 8 weeks.
