Pupitre: I can't really help with 49 and 50, construction/stereonet problems (which is how I believe you solve these) being my partner's domain. Also, do you want me to just post the answer to my Q marathon question, or do you want to take another stab at it? Either way, could you post another question? We all need as many as we get in these few weeks before Nationals.

I'll just PM you about that one I guess since I want to give any other people a chance to try it. And yeah sure I'll find another question to put up there.

It was quite different from the practice/invitational tests I've taken, seemed to focus pretty heavily on 3a and just being able to interpret geologic maps. I wish it had been a significantly longer test, because about halfway through we were just going through the problems over and over trying to find more to write, and that it had covered more of the classic geomaps problems (cross-sections, three-point problems, stereonets, things like that). Also, I am not a fan of subjective questions...

And the quality of the images didn't make things any better either (um, which one is the dashed line and which one is the BOLD dashed line...) :|
I agree, the huge concentration on maps didn't favor us. I found it weird that the test never even mentioned strike and dip or most of the things in the rules (same as you pupitre), but I guess there's not really anything we can do about it

Did you do the whole test? It definitely mentioned strike and dip, and even had a 3-point problem. I agree it was a little map-heavy, but that's what you get with a multiple-choice test...

I think everyone is getting a bit confused. Pupitre I think referred to the regional? I think rodowd and Alpha are referring to the states test? Either way sounds like nobody had as hard a test as NYS aww :(. Though, I talked to someone from stoga, and it sounds like your states test was...really weird.

Sorry, I meant the PA States test! It's somewhat odd to say but I'm glad other people found the test as weird as we did...

Derp sorry for the miscommunication. Yeah, our states test was annoyingly like that too...I wonder if the test writers just read the 1-sentence summary of the event on the Soinc website, instead of actually bothering to read the rules.

Does anyone know who the event coordinator at Nationals is gonna be for GeoMaps?

I think it may have been Van Hecke? Don't quote me on that, I feel like I just saw that once or twice before (I think I tried emailing him about it, but he said along the lines that he was busy and stuff).

It is Van Hecke, yes, for what it's worth.
