On another note, we may have enough people to have a scioly.org meetup at states this year. That would be cool; it's one of the reasons why I've always wanted to go to nationals.
Same here, though it's many, many months away, I've always wanted to go to a meetup, especially for scioly
Oh my gosh, same! I thought for a few minutes about how awesome it would be to meet you guys, then I remembered that the Div B and Div C States are at different times. Silly me. >.<
But of course, silverheart7, you're a B Divisioner too! Are there any other NY B Divisioners out there? Perhaps we could have a meetup of our own...

I'm sure there are plenty of other B Divisioners out there. Their just to a bit quiet right now.

If we were to have to have meetup of our own where we would we have it?

(its a new school and everything

) But it would be interesting to meet people from scioly

Yeah! I'd like that if there was any way to arrange it.

Yeah! That would be pretty cool. If you don't mind me asking, what region are you in?

Yay!! Another B Divisioner! Not sure if you were asking me or siciscio, but I'm from Great Neck South. That's in the Western Long Island region. I believe siciscio (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is from Gelinas. What school are you from, smartypants?

Please don't take offense, but I just don't feel comfortable revealing where I go to school, but I will say that I am in the Eastern Long Island Region.

No problem, sorry that I made you feel a bit uncomfortable, it's one of my strange talents :S

Great Neck South... I remember seeing your school at that state park on the way to states. Lol my school got lost finding the picnic area so we just ate at a random place. Ha weird times.

Just my two cents - this is going to be a interesting year in New York Science Olympiad, most definitely.
First of all, all of the trial events sound really interesting this year! I'm actually a bit jealous I never got to try out a Triple E-esque event, but hey, that's pretty cool for all you competitors. And once again, Geologic (everyone's favorite event to hit this side of the Appalachians) has returned, so have fun with all the synforms and stereonets, y'all.
B Division - I don't really think that we're going to have much of a change there - chances are, Eagle Hill and Gelinas will make nationals, give or take switching around their spots. Wellwood and Murphy are always contenders, and let's not count out some dark horses like Weber and South Orangetown, or even some other new team cracking the top 10 or even the top 5, but by the looks of the domination we've been seeing at the state competitions in the past few years, I think that the same two B teams will be representing the Empire State at Wright State.
C Division - Now this is where things start to become funky. I've heard a lot about this year- Fayetteville-Manlius losing a coach, a strong senior class graduating from pretty much every school, a shift towards more study events in the schedule, even a brand new location. I don't think the entirety of the top 5 are really going to change much, possibly Brighton sneaking in, and I'm still waiting to see Mount Academy's second year as a team. However, this early in the season, it's pretty tough to speculate - I wouldn't rule out any of the top 5 teams for one of those national spots. FM and WM are going to do well as always, but the question is, will Syosset and/or Columbia do just as well? Personally, I do think that one of the latter teams will pull quite an upset this year. I'm sure we'll have a glimpse at the State competition to come once Invitational season rolls around.
It's certainly shaping up for a fiery season - this year I'll just sit back and watch you guys battle (and help write a State test or two). Good luck to all New Yorkers, remember that you're a medalist just for competing, and represent the Big Ol' Apple well in Ohio!
