Re: SAT Scores?
Don't bother until you get to high school. Seriously. Wait until you've got a bit more knowledge (they do teach you stuff in HS you know) and then take them if you want. With subject tests there's no reason to take them early like the SAT. Chances are you won't be retaking them.
Actually, I'd say don't bother with subject tests at all. Most colleges don't care about them.

Re: SAT Scores?
Depends what type of class. We had some offered by our school that were useless to me. They seemed to be trying to help people up their scores from 900 or 1000 to 1200, not 1300 to 1500. But I know some people took classes from the Princeton Review or whatever that say they helped.
I found the most useful tool was review books. Grab a few of them and work through them, including all the practice tests.

Re: SAT Scores?
I don't think the SAT prep classes sponsored by companies really help much...like that silly CTY thing. But, if you have a private tutor that will really help. One of my friends has been studying since 7th grade and got a 2390.
For the PSAT: I wish I lived in some Mid West State...I heard it's easier to qualify there (for the National Merit Scholarship). Here in NJ, we have one of the highest qualifying scores...=.=
BTW, do any of you think that the SAT is an unfair test? For example, some people may be extremely smart and good at Writing, Comprehension, and Math...but the SAT has a odd way of asking questions. Most of the people that get good scores are those who had enough time and money to get private tutors...not the people that are known to be "smart."
Ugh...I despise the SAT!!

Re: SAT Scores?
Unfair...no...it's the same test for everyone and there's very little difference between the tests.
But that doesn't mean I think it's a good test...it doesn't really measure anything - especially your ability to do well in college...
I don't think it favors those who have tutors - theoretically you can have a tutor in anything. Putting time into using review books (which are fairly cheap) and doing practice tests seems to help the most.
And don't forget the ACT. I liked it much better. The questions were much more straightforward.

Re: SAT Scores?
By without any preparation do you mean without a tutor or just without studying at all? If it's the ladder than i'm impressed!! I dont see why you wouldnt want to prepare for it though.
I talked with my counselor today and he said i'd be silly not to take the biology subject test
He's actually the one who brought the subject up to me.
