Does anybody have some good sites for the effect of plate tectonics on climate?

This link has some good stuff near the end.

On section "e." about the natural climatic variability, is there anything to know other than the obvious - like places with mountains by the coast get a lot of rain, the higher you go the colder, bodies of water nearby will get you more snow/rain, the closer to the equator the hotter it is, etc.?

And the effect of Earth's mean temp thing. Higher temp will melt the cryosphere, have more water, kill off some life etc. but is there anything else other than the obvious?

Same with plate tectonics.

Sorry for the double post, but

Why does less salty water/influx of fresh water shutdown thermohaline circulation?

The thermohaline circulation exists because of density gradients in the world's ocean water. There are two types of density differences - warm vs. cool water, and salty vs. fresh water. The system constantly tries to reach equilibrium by mixing the water around, which is what causes worldwide ocean current patterns.

Btw, easy way to remember it: thermo = temperature, haline = saltiness. :)
