We actually had someone at my school who was all about IAT and went after it pretty hard. He got pretty demoralized tho bc the tests were pretty bad, and maybe that is why it is still a lackluster event.

The bigger problem we had were the permanent events, just because my school was a fairly new team and we got whipped in events like astronomy or chem lab bc other teams had years of experience to build on. So I got thrown in them lol.

It could be. I could believe that IAT might be the hardest event to find a good ES for.

Just like detector for me. The build looks so easy, but the tests impossible.

And gosh, chem lab was so hard for me. How did 10 hours of studying get us 22nd place? (luckily we'll have people who are actually taking ap chem next year, this year was a bit unorganized)

Maybe that's part of the reason we silvered in Forestry this year with something like 3 hours of prep (writing notes and that's literally it)

1 year update--time flies. My team still sucks at builds, woohoo! We lost a bunch of great students through transfers or graduating seniors(I can hardly blame them; if I did, I'd be a hypocrite)

Same. Seems like FTC is a big draw and I somehow ended up with Robot Tour even though I hate robots. We're skipping Scrambler at regionals, too, I just don't have time.

Yeah, our Towers/Flight(me whoops)/RoboTour/literally every build team is in shambles right now. Unfortunately, the study events aren't doing much better.

It'll be a miracle if we make it past regionals this year. Even though my regionals is really easy... Maybe I'm hoping that we don't though, because AP exams are coming up.

I have my regional on saturday and I'd say there's a 50-50 chance we make it to states. So stressed out rn by my study events because if we don't then I was kind of ultimately the deciding factor of that. wish me luck

edit: wow our school once got 8th at states and now we're not even confident to pass regionals. last year you were trying for nationals right? don't know what else to say but good luck

Hey, I have regionals next Saturday!
Same for us, my team isn't good. It used to be mediocre at the states level but now? Nah.

I have a decent shot at attending a national school next year but I don't think I will do SciOly if I go. You must've mixed me up with someone else, maybe? I don't think I'll ever come close to qualifying for nationals.

Good luck to both of us =)
