Is Science Olympiad worth it?

I heard about that...my sympathies. I think I've said this before, but still- congrats on winning gold at States!

My friends and I are trying out some of next year's building events over the summer, just to see how different designs and stuff work out. It should be interesting.

I mean, think about it...
You spend hours and hours studying, slaving away, building, and THEN:

a. You panic during your building event, mess up, and get screwed
b. You go to your study event, realize that the test is exactly what you didn't study, and get screwed
c. Your team misses states by 1-5 points
d. Your team misses NATS by 1-5 points
e. Your team just overall sucks, and no matter how hard you work, you're not getting as far as you would like
f. You make a deal with your partner, and they don't follow up, and you get screwed
g. The event supervisor messes up their knowledge of the test subjects, and write the answer key wrong, and you get screwed
h. The floor on which your build event occurs is messed up (i.e. really slippery) and you get screwed

Anyways, if any of these happens, or you just plain lose, how do you feel knowing that you spent hours and hours of your precious time and essentially WASTED it...
Do you find Science Olympiad to still be worth it?

(I'm asking this cuz I just got f***ed at regionals, and I'm now really depressed)

I know how you feel...
I live and breath SO, and my teammates don't do a thing. So we never get past regionals. I know that knowledge is valulable, but it will be a lot more valulable if I have it when I get to States someday.

i find that Science Olympiad Is totally worth it. This is because It's fun and the great feeling you get when you get into state competition or when you win a medal.

Or do you mean that you play Ultimate (I too, dislike the word "frisbee"...it makes me feel 8) at SO?

If it's the former, I'm fairly sure you could get a much nicer disc for 10 bucks. If it's the latter, isn't SO technically taking away time you could spend on Ultimate? I don't get it.

I know how u feel man, luckily we have a tremendously uncompetitive regional tournament, and we get to state easy. Actually, ever since my class has come to my school (We're sophomores now), we've gotten first and will probably continue to get first at regionals.

And i repeat, it is definitely worth it...
