Just so you know, you don't need to know jellyfish.

Not true (at least not even close tot totally true). Jellyfish as fossils have limited information on them. They could ask you about their anatomy however, and they could ask you about notbale locales, methods of fossilization, why they are rare, fossil ranges, distibution, etc. Just because something is relatively uncommon or doesn't have much information on it on the web that is easily found, doesn't mean they won't put it on a test. They may do so less frequently, however you need to know as much about jellyfish as you can find though. You are required to know things about jellyfish, they can, and may ask.

I am so unhappy about them. Oh well, just have to make the best of it. Jellyfish suck.

what types of significant fossil discoveries might be asked? Things like the burgess shale? Or will they have to do specifically with each fossil?

New Question:
I'm getting deep into vertebrates now, on a test are they going to show us fossil vertebrates or have they ever shown renditions of what they look like when alive (specifically dinosaurs)?
Off the top of my head, I can think of the Burgess Shale, Green River, Wyoming (fish fossils, and I THINK it's in Wyoming, it might be a different state) and the place in China with the feathered dinosaurs.

And I've seen about equal pictures of vertebrate skeletons and reconstructed vertebrates. As for actually fossils in front of you, you might get shark teeth and bony fish, but that's really it, unless you get lucky at nats.
The Green River fossils are from Wyoming. The fish there are very well preserved, though it takes some time to find them. I was just working on one yesterday and all I found was some crap (literally). As it is said, if anything else these fish were pretty regular.

I dont see why they wouldnt be
the rules dosen't say anything about them in the allowed items :/
so i'm guessing its a 'no-go'
which is why I want to find a non-reference table chart, in case all parts of the thing are disallowed, I might have found on,e but not sure if it covers all/enough of them :/

(plus, yay Avatar :D love your avi ^^)

Well if it's in you binder, I'm pretty sure it will be ok. But, like anything, be ready to take it out if the supervisor says otherwise.
SO stressed!
