Well that would depend on your design. If you had a claw this would be no problem but it takes longer. What design do you plan on using?

More time was spent aligning the robot with the can than on picking up pieces. Don't waste your time with a claw.

True but last year we had one goal. Making that kinda thing worth it. This year it could be a bigger problem. I might try scooper up the peices that go into the smaller goal first. Dumping it, then going for the bigger goal. I am new to this whole thing by the way so if anyone has a better idea please say it.

Maybe you can do a dump truck and then add on a claw. You can scoop up everything going in the large goal and claw the correct legos, dump them in, then go for the rest of the leggos.

There is no good site for under $70. Either get more money or lose the event. Sorry but robo-cross is the most expensive event in SO, Sorry.

i'm not doing this event but i'm currious if there are any other kits besides vex that yield a robot that would do well in SO competition. I dont mean kits that include parts to design your own robot, i mean kits like the vex explorer that are already designed.

Robo Cross Rule Clarification

Last year we built our own with a scoop and brush and when we went to state, they ALL had the exact same robot--some red thing with a claw. We had a wire break and came in dead last! Last year the rules said "Each team may enter only one robot that must be built prior to the competion." This year they say "Each team may enter only one robot that must be DESIGNED and built prior to the competiton." Does this mean that no kits are allowed and that the team has to design the robot or can you order pre-desgined kits?

Thanks (we were thinking about buying a kit).
