Basically it prevents someone, for example, from using a halogen bulb and photocell for both the light initiates the next action and the exothermic light producing with photocell actions. Also prevents the use of a scorable action twice although that is also specified in the rules elsewhere I believe. You just can't have two identical actions.
Actually, I'm pretty sure Nletts19 is interpreting it right - 50 points for each unique action. I'll edit my post.

I missed the part where Nletts19 was responding to you oops

I’ve been using different colored LEDs to circumvent the “unique” rule... will that hold at nats?

If the task was identical except for a different color of LED, I would personally not interpret that as unique.

Since one of the tasks is supposed to be exothermic anyway (see numerous discussions in that thread

) and LED's don't produce a lot of heat in the first place, you'd definitely be better off utilizing some other kind of small lightbulb (my device used a bulb from Christmas tree string lights for the exothermic task).

Does anyone know what competitive Mission scores at MI states will look like? After looking at the possible points, I'm worried about medaling...

States differ greatly in mission scores but generally 1000+ does decently well in past tournaments (1200+ does good fairly consistently though)

For top six in MI, 1300 should manage. Something like 1500 would probably be a solid top 3 or so.

Ouch - we weren't close to that at regionals. Hopefully I'll come back with good news after states this weekend.

We just placed first at MI states!
I'm not sure about the exact score, but according to my timer, we had: 105 second run time, 90 second chemical timer, 67 second target time.
We had all 14 tasks, the battery bonus, and a 31x31x31cm device.
I believe this results in a score of ~1500.
I'm still slightly nervous to see how this plays out - I talked to the AA Pioneer team, and they thought they had a score of 1540. I'll post if I figure out any more raw scores from MI.
Also, my partner will be posting some info about the device.
