Re: Road Scholar B
Joe lives on the intersections of the west and south neat lines. He wants to go to the local pho store, whose noodles are really good! (Sorry I <3 pho). The pho store is exactly 2.5 minutes east of the northeast graticule tick mark. If there is a road running from Joe's house to the pho store, at what bearing would Joe be traveling on if he headed to the pho store?
Hint: use trigonometry (tangent and arctangent are probably the easiest)
Re: Road Scholar B
Answer:
N33.69˚E at the equator, assuming he is in the US, the bearing would be more north, because longitude isn't a universal fixed distance at different latitudes.
Joe's house lies in the center of the NW1/4|S12 | T14N | R4W, how many feet is it to the crossing of his local PLSS Equator and Meridian?Hint:
How many miles x miles is a section?... Use trig too
Problems are better pursued with General Electric GE90-115 engines.

Re: Road Scholar B
Let's start this up again...
Ted is at the bottom of a hill, holding a map. He sees that he is standing right on a contour line, yet it is unlabeled. He notices that a thicker contour line 40 feet above where he is standing is labeled "2450". He then proceeds to walk up the hill, crossing 6 contour lines and stopping at the seventh. What is his elevation after he has climbed the hill?
"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12
