That is a bit sad that your coach doesn't know your name after an entire year, but it is okay, as long as you win stuff, right? I am certain our coaches know everyone on varsity, and probably on JV.

oh..and as for event coachs...no....wel, some events....but most of them, we just study..of course building events...but only i think towers had a coach..a social studies teacher that tried coaaching ornithology and would only teach us about ducks and waterfowl and he HUNTED them for FUN.....all he did all day was scream at all of us....and birds, we knew more than he did and he acted so UGH!!! like superior?? yeah...no....coaches for our team dont work out soo well...i don't care that we don't have coaches, but then, ppl just don't TRY and study...and THATS what drives me crazy....

Sorry to hear that...especially about Compute This. That's a painful event to have to try to figure out yourself.

Yes but. Remember, a good recommendation from a coach can go a long ways when looking for colleges, particularly if you are interested in a STEM field (sounds like you drift towards engineering already).

My coach is actually a pretty great coach. The varsity team at the beginning of the year was a bit weird, but she rearranged things pretty fast. She knows everyone and likes everyone, but that doesn't mean she's against making fun of someone every once in a while. Our school doesn't have any event coaches, only her, so she has a lot of responsibility. But she really cares about SO and us- it's not weird to go to a "study party" and end up spending the whole time talking to her and other teammates instead of studying.

This whole "multiple coaches" and "event coaches" thing is so weird to me. If we really need to know something, we just go find another science teacher who hopefully will give us the time of day to explain things.

And it really sucks that your coach doesn't know your name, mrsteven. It sounds like he(she) isn't really that dedicated to your team.

Same, our team only has the 1 coach and no 'event coaches' but usually I can figure out what I need.
