 Wow, ONE point. What would happen if (however impossible) they had an unbreakable tie for 2nd?

I'm so surprised I didn't completely fail Compute This (13th with no graphs) or DP, but Anatomy didn't do so well. lol, not last in Wright Stuff. Didn't see that coming, especially since the plane did a 180, came back and hit the person launching it. At least it wasn't like the kamikaze plane at Regionals (which dived straight for the floor).

yeah, im wondering the same thing. i know for tiebreakers they go to number of medals, then first place medals, but what comes after that?

It's ok, because Strath Haven would have gotten it anyways. Strath Haven and Shady Side had the same number of medals, but Strath Haven had 4 1st's and Shady Side had 3 1sts.

Gah, we did awful. Not a single 1st place, and I didn't even medal in ornithology. It's the first time we've made states, though. :|

Number of silvers, then bronze, then 4th, and so on. It is a quite interesting hypothetical question, though. Would they give the state 3 teams? Would they use selected events as tiebreakers? Would they flip a coin?

Don't feel bad- it's quite an improvement from last year. I'm not sure where my team finished up, but it's definitely worse than last year.

Edit: Yah, we got 15th and completely bombed 4 events (30+ in rankings).

I don't think they'd allow the state to have 3 teams.

Well they do have individual event tie breakers...

EDIT: According to Wikipedia..
There are several ways to break a tie (draw):

* Before a competition, the event organizer decides on several events to be used as tie-breakers. If two teams get the same score overall, the team that rates highest in that one event will take the lead.
* Another method for tie-breaking is based on medals where the team with more first place medals wins, if both teams have the same amount of first places, it moves to second place medals and so on.
* A third way of tie-breaking is to use a team's score in trial/pilot events. The team with the best combined score in trial events would win the competition when this method is used.
