Congrats. Do you know your ideal time, actual time, sand timer time, and sign mass?

Re: Kansas 2011
Thanks, now I understand why we're disappointed we didn't place. I wish I would have been able to be in it this year, but I will definitely next year, since there are only three people on my team (two next year) who will do the event, including me. One of them doesn't even like the event.zyzzyva98 wrote:Remote Sensing was not at all challenging, most of it was just accurate counting (or estimation if you ran out of time). The worst question on it was: "How many housing developments are in the picture from 1970?". The housing developments stood out extremely well in the picture, so it was quite clear to see how many there were and to just count them.

Same thing happened with me. At my state, I only got 1 medal.zyzzyva98 wrote:I crashed as soon as I got home last night... it was a long day. I guess you all know what happened by now. We were just out of our depth. Moving up to C finally hit hard at state; medal-wise, it was my worst tournament since my first year. (I took first overall in Sounds of Music and second overall in Experimental Design- that's it.)

The sign mass was 23.6 grams. I think the ideal time was 68 seconds I believe. I don't know the rest.blazer wrote:Congrats. Do you know your ideal time, actual time, sand timer time, and sign mass?

Kansas must be insane.... I took a look at Maple's signature and saw that 3rd in Astronomy was an 'ouch' ... That's crazy... good job Maple! As far as your guys' state tournament goes, where was it? We do ours at a college (the college changes every year) and usually the professors write the exams which usually means some really top notch, off the wall hard tests that may or may not have something to do with the event, lol Anywho how many schools do you have there? we normally have 24ish schools at our state this year it was only 22...
Oh and Z, I promise to beat them at nationals just for you

Haha, that has to do with something else. I'm incredibly proud of getting 3rd in Astronomy. I mean, the test was a timed PowerPoint written by professor of advanced astrophysics. It had some very hard physics questions about the Doppler effect which we had 2 minutes to answer. It had a "lightning round" in which we had 30 seconds to answer questions. The reason I'm upset? My brother was the state champion in Astronomy last year. He was also the regional champion this year and last year. His old partner isn't doing Astronomy, and there was lots of pressure on me to help my brother hold onto his title. I feel like I failed because I couldn't even help him get 2nd. But thanks for the congrats!

Out of all my tests, only Astronomy was written by a professor. Students wrote Microbe Mission and Dynamic Planet. And as always, the sponsor (can't remember it right off) for Protein Modeling wrote the test.

Your state competitions are like our regionals. My regionals had 27 or so teams and our states usually has 50-60, I think.
Edit: this is just Div. C
