it depends on the person holding the event. i went to 3 invitationals and they didnt check. im not sure about states though and i havent been to reginals yet. i hope they revise the rules next year. theres alot of loopholes =/

i think it was said somewhere on this thread that the tabs cant have any additional information, you're only supposed to use them for being able to find stuff faster, but if all you guys got through so many competitions without being dqed, then maybe it's okay...

On the soinc website, they defined a tab as a "small flap or strip of material," so I don't think the 2" 2" tabs would be allowed per these rules.
I think this was mentioned before, but if you need to find individual birds, what about writing the page numbers next to the bird name on the list? We used this method at regionals and we were able to find the birds very quickly, as opposed to the tabs which kept on getting destroyed in my backpack.
