I loved both Animal Farm and 1984 too.
My favorite books that are actually well-written/classics are:
To Kill a Mockingbird
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
Ender's Shadow - Orson Scott Card
Dante's Inferno
The Raven (Poe)
The Time Traveler - H.G. Wells
The Swiss Family Robinson - (Completely umbelievable, but fun to read.)
Frankenstein
The Picture of Dorian Gray - (Sad and well-written.)
Fahrenheit 451
My favorite books/series that are just fun to read are:
Maximum Ride (Going downhill fast, thank goodness the next book is the last book.)
The Mortal Instruments series
The Inheritance series
Artemis Fowl - (Last one made a comeback from mediocrity.)
Skulduggery Pleasant series - (British and completely amazing. 6 books in the series so far.)
The Hunger Games series

I'm surprised how James Patterson decided to turn it from a sci-fi into a love story. My Latin teacher was making fun of it after he got it from one of my classmates.

I noticed that the "Worst Books" thread has been getting attention lately, so I thought it would be nice to remind people that this thread exists too.
Some of my favorites:
Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series
Huxley's "Island"
Neil deGrasse Tyson's "Death by Black Hole"
