We don’t know yet. All we know is that Purdue is not welcoming visitors for events until may 2. It depends on the PurdueSciOly board if state gets rescheduled. It’s their choice to make now.

Hmm... could the competition theoretically be moved to a nearby school? Like logistically it would be a nightmare, I'm sure, but in theory could it happen? (I gotta hold onto some hope...)

A faculty or staff member who believes that they have an essential business reason to hold an event can request a waiver through their unit leader (dean, vice provost, vice president, etc.), but again, the expectation is such waivers will be rare.

If we can convince them an event is extremely important, it could be possible to work around this. I would suggest using techniques that are allowing Northern California and New Jersey to hold their state tournaments, such as: no awards ceremony, supervisors and staff with face masks, ensuring arms length distance between participants, hand sanitizer available at all gathering locations etc. With these changes, it may be possible to pull this off.

I would encourage INSO and the Purdue board to explore these options at least before canceling entirely. Postponing states would also work really well, but is likely even more of a logistical problem.

Yeah, it’s been real. There are possible hosting places though, I.e places that have held invitationals. (RP, Whiting, Valparaiso, and I could see Carmel).

yeah there are other places. There is probably no chance Carmel could host it because hosting a tournament months in advance at Carmel is a complicated process. This is only a couple of weeks notice.
