I tab the general group of birds, like Ducks or Doves. That way, I can find what I need at maximum efficiency. Don't have to go through a bunch of tabs or the whole book. I remember someone else having a similar idea. I also tab the birds that are separated from the group (in the Peterson, there are a couple outliers that are in a totally out of order page), so I can get to those first.sciolygrl258 wrote:lol yupand you can put the pg number of the bird on the bird list if you're not using the peterson. i dont think that tabbing the book will help that much.

On allaboutbrids, it says that the mallard is the most popular game bird but then on the mourning dove's page it says that it's the most frequently hunted species. What's the difference?

Re: Ornithology B/C
I do that too, it works really well for me! Like, if I know it's a hawk, I can just go to the tab that marks all of the hawks, then find exactly what it is from there. Then I can look for the tab # on the part that sticks out, instead of flipping through to find a specific page number.junexia wrote:ive already put down all the page numbers. I'm just tabbing my field guide for the orders and big families, like in passeriformes, so i have a general idea of where they are.

Re: Ornithology B/C
I think by "popular" it may mean most approved for hunting as in most licensing sold, and more people hunt for them and "frequently" may mean the mourning doves has a larger number actually hunted(less hunters more kills). That is my best educated guess.crazy77 wrote:On allaboutbrids, it says that the mallard is the most popular game bird but then on the mourning dove's page it says that it's the most frequently hunted species. I think it's kind of interesting/entertaining how, like, half of the conversations on this thread are about what we can and cannot do with our tabs...
