I guess they could make the cup target line variable as well.MangoTTT wrote:Hey any prediction on rules for next year for mousetrap? I feel there's not a lot to add...

I predict we'll have to deal with curving between two cans which should be fun.MangoTTT wrote:Hey any prediction on rules for next year for mousetrap? I feel there's not a lot to add...

I think this is likely. In the past they have also established a centerline and teams receive a bonus if the wheels of the vehicle don’t cross the line.antoine_ego wrote:I predict we'll have to deal with curving between two cans which should be fun.MangoTTT wrote:Hey any prediction on rules for next year for mousetrap? Having a center can would certainly be interesting, since the car would have to curve in two directions to do well.Alex-RCHS wrote:I think this is likely. A center can? Like, on the centerline? I imagine you would just angle the car slightly off center on launch and then have it curve in a single arc.Unome wrote:Having a center can would certainly be interesting, since the car would have to curve in two directions to do well.Alex-RCHS wrote:I think this is likely. Consider this (poorly-drawn diagram):Alex-RCHS wrote:A center can? Like, on the centerline? Like electric vehicle two years ago? I imagine they’ll still have points for accuracy next year. Unless I’m misunderstanding your diagram.Unome wrote:Consider this (poorly-drawn diagram):Alex-RCHS wrote:A center can? Like, on the centerline? Exactly, so to get accuracy points the car would have to change curve direction mid-run.Alex-RCHS wrote:Like electric vehicle two years ago? Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
wouldn’t it be risky for the curves? It seems really risky spec lot of mtv are really light and some might suffer damage if it hits a can?
Maybe it might be just in a straight line to a distance from 7-9 meters?

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I think it would be interesting to see something of a time-target, like hovercraft, along with the distance target. Making a mousetrap car hit as close as possible to a certain exact time (say, between 5 and 30 seconds) would be interesting (along with the standard target distance).
