According to Amazon, the Complete Birds of North America Book (I'm assuming that's the book you mean, since we've been debating it) is 9.8 x 7.2 x 1.9 inches. How practical does that make it? The Peterson one is 9 x 6.3 x 1.5 inches. It's slightly bigger, you have to admit. The Smithsonian is a lot smaller, the Sibley is thinner and slightly smaller, and the Audubon is definitely the smallest. Thoughts on portability?

That is true. Different print editions can have different dimensions. I just took the ones from Amazon, because I couldn't think of any other sight that would have those for all the different guides.

Sibley's guide usually comes in hardcover versions, so it is bigger, but that also makes it considerably easier to handle than petersons guide, as the pages stay open more easily. National geographics' complete guide is twice as thick as petersons, but not very hard to locate birds in. Regionals is two weeks, but I am considering using National geographic (which means completly tabbing it) but it seems worth it.

lol this is rly off topic but for all NY birds people, i emailed the guy like 20 times and he asked the nationals event supervisor and she apparently said that we could write on the list and tab the guide and write on that (given that theyre small tabs? idk how they define small so idk...) but idk if i would write on the back of the list but maybe like jotting random notes on the sides and highlighting stuff should be fine

well im not from ny, but the general rules should be pretty much the same for everyone. from what i know, the tabs cant be that big, and they MUST be handwritten. as for writing on the list, you can only write on the front without it counting as part of your cheat sheet. any writing on the front of the list or any markings are okay, but if you write anything on the back its counted as a page of the double sided cheat sheet youre allowed.

How are you guys learning the song for the yellow-breasted chat? When i look it up online, i get so many variations, i'm sure because it has many differet songs, but its still annoying. How would you recognize one of its songs if you heard it? Any tips?
