You have to understand that most people are not aware of inner team workings, so they're going to look at regional and invitational performance, as well as past state results, to make predictions. I don't think people can be blamed for putting them in their predictions.

In C news, it looks like Northwest PA Collegiate Academy turned down their states spot, and it got passed down the NWPA chain until Kane Area claimed it. They're going to be the odds-on favorite to place last at states, as they had 200 points in the smallest and least strong region, but hopefully it should be a good experience, especially for a former regional champion making their return.

Well, now the whole world can know that we've had three people drop out since regionals, one of which dropped out just today, and all of our events have pretty much been changed so nothing is the same as it was at regionals. We even ran out of alternates to replace the dropouts!

I can't wait to see how things are going to play out this year in both divisions (although I really wish I had more time to prepare....)

awards ceremony is going to be terrifying

What caused the drop out? We face a similar scenario. Spring sports usually gets in the way. That is why we plan a deep bench all year.

I don't really know beyond speculation, but it's worth pointing out that NPCA no-showed states last year. Perhaps they lack the funding to attend states at this point, but still attend regionals since it's hosted close to them. Or, perhaps NPCA has something scheduled for that weekend that's gotten in the way for two straight years. Either way, glad another team is getting a chance this year, rather than a no-show.

If anyone scheduled Sounds of Music for either of the middle two time-slots (10:55-11:55 or 12:10-1:10) and could possibly move to a different time please let me know, as we are having schedule conflicts. It would be much appreciated.

For non-PA people, what's the reasoning behind the Lower Merion hype?
