Re: Texas 2010
Well I don't think I've EVER seen anyone else do that. Unfortunately we just have a really small student base to sell to...

We don't sell at school, we sell (which is really more like asking for donations) outside Breed & Co.
We have considered selling at school just for the pure amusement of seeing the pandemonium caused by hundreds of hormone driven teenagers in close proximity to their crushes with mistletoe,though...

Re: Texas 2010
I was figuring there would be some strange reaction to that at a high school.
Noted, but the usual places won't accept people selling on their property anymore. Any "at school" ideas? My principal suggested baby sitting...not sure how well that will work out.

Re: Texas 2010
Another possibility is to go to local technology companies (particularly ones whose products you might be using in events like Mission Possible, etc) and flat up ask them for sponsorships. Explain to them "Hi, we're from NYOS charter school, we do science olympiad, we won our regional, but we don't have funds to travel to state competition, etc, can you help out?"
This is what most robotics teams do to get funds. I don't know if any science olympiad teams do that, but it's worth a shot.

Re: Texas 2010
Cy-Falls used to be sponsored by Shell and ExxonMobil several years ago and we had to wear their logos on our shirts. Granted we did know someone personally in the company who vouched for us and secured the sponsorship but like andrew418 says, it's worth a shot.andrew418 wrote:Another possibility is to go to local technology companies (particularly ones whose products you might be using in events like Mission Possible, etc) and flat up ask them for sponsorships. Re: Texas 2010
Yeah, thought about that too. Lucky for us we live in awesome Austin. We know a couple of people at IBM, Cisco Systems, and Etymotic. HOPEFULLY there is enough time to get something going.
You gotta love engineering parents and their connections.
Wish there was a "best routing" event though, we could totally score that sponsorship from Cisco.

Re: Texas 2010
Wow all this fundraising talk made me realize how spoiled beckdorff is :/ Our PTA provides for quite a bit, parents donate a lot too, and we only do fundraising once a year.
Hi. I have a messed up sleep cycle. Thank you, scioly.

Re: Texas 2010
I hope we do well. I want to at least get a medel. Last time our team only got 3rd and 4rth place medels and we made state. I hope to get first place in junkyard challenge. Everybody thinks there team will make it. But if i do that, when we lose and dont go to nationals ill cry. So i hope to get a medel. And someone from Bekendorff (hpoe i spelled it right) could you say hi to the girl who had the panda hat on? From the orinthology people at roberson. She might remember cause i saw my partner showing her something on his guitar at blinn.
