Do you know if this ES will permit battery changes in the state tournament?Birdmusic wrote: Thank you! I will print out a copy of the general rules as well as the hovercraft rules for state since we have the same ES for state.

Would this cut it for a DC motor?
Note: Solenoids are the main component of every basic dc motor

Re: Hovercraft B/C
For hover, probably not. You need a propeller too and in my experience Ikara Wright stuff propellers have actually worked quite well.shrewdPanther46 wrote:https://www.amazon.com/Uxcell-a14092600 ... r+actuator

That isn't my point. I am asking if a part of that type (electrical solenoids) are classified as motors.

Unfortunately, the only answer you're probably going to get is that it's iffy and comes down to opinion. In my opinion, it would count; in your ES's opinion, it might not.shrewdPanther46 wrote:That isn't my point. I am asking if a part of that type (electrical solenoids) are classified as motors.
The question it comes down to is this: Is it really that much better than a traditional motor, or should you stick with something more safe?

Re: Hovercraft B/C
On our track at home, we've gotten 14-16 second times. However, it's a pretty rough track (concrete). At our latest competition, we got 12.5 seconds on smoother tile, although I don't remember the length. I assume that since the track length is constant for Div B, a lot of teams are getting fairly close to 15 seconds.CMS AC wrote:Also, how close are people getting to the 15 second times? We're getting 10 on average, and nothing more than 13.

Thanks for responding. I designed a new system just now which uses traditional motors (simply is just a little more confusing to think about and implement).Tesel wrote:Unfortunately, the only answer you're probably going to get is that it's iffy and comes down to opinion.
