Paypog you do realize that I said the exact same thing as nendawen yet you get mad at him? Just because you have something against him doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to what he's saying. He wasn't trying to start anything, he was simply pointing out a fact. And by continuing your feud with him you're contributing to the irrelevancy of all these posts. Can we just stop? This thread is supposed to be about Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania only.

Anyway, with 16 days left until states, anyone have predictions to share? I'll be sharing the output of my Excel spreadsheet (with an average error of less than 3 places for both divisions the last couple years) next week, with my own top 15 predictions after that (15 instead of 10 because I want to talk about more than 10 C teams )

Div B:
1.) Springhouse - I mean... they're Springhouse

2.) Bala Cynwyd - The team definitely seems to have improved from last year, and put up an excellent performance at Garnet Valley. If they continue to do their thing, I can see them taking the 2nd place spot.

3.) Shady Side Academy - Still a strong team which definitely has the potential to take the 2nd place spot. However, the upward trajectory that Bala has been on makes me put SSA in 3rd.

4.) Harlan Rowe - Spectacular performances so far this year. This team went crazy this year and is definitely in contention for a top 3 spot if the state tournament goes well for them. I'm less inclined to believe that they can get top 2 since this is their first year of performing at such a high level

Div C:
1.) Harriton - I still believe
2.) Lower Merion - Definitely has potential to win it all
3.) Cumberland Valley - The Harlan Rowe of Div C

4.) Harlan Rowe - Spectacular performances so far this year. This team went crazy this year and is definitely in contention for a top 3 spot if the state tournament goes well for them. I'm less inclined to believe that they can get top 2 since this is their first year of performing at such a high level

3.) Cumberland Valley - The Harlan Rowe of Div C

This is actually a good way of putting it. Both teams have had amazing break-out years, and are definitely among the best teams in the state in their respective divisions. Both teams looked great both at invies and in their regional competitions. However, I would say that CV has a better shot of nats than Harlan Rowe (not that their nats bids are at all related) due to their performances at invitationals this season.

Both teams attend fairly easy regional tournaments (despite that, 18 golds is amazing and I give all the credit in the world to Harlan Rowe for all of their hard work this season) so regional results can't really be viewed comparatively to states.

However, (and please correct me if I'm wrong) Harlan Rowe has been beaten by both Bala and Springhouse at their invies this season (don't think they've competed against SSA yet), while the only team that CV has lost to this season was WWPS, who, quite obviously won't be at PA states.

Because of this, it seems as though Harlan Rowe defintely has some ground to make up, but it won't be impossible for them to advance if they have a great day at States. Oppositely, CV has looked strong and solid throughout their short invy season. They haven't, to my knowledge, lost to any PA teams, even beating a stacked Lower Merion, who has been a powerhouse all season. However, these invies were months ago, and obviously every team has improved since then. I just we could see either of these teams (Harlan Rowe and CV) against the other top teams in PA, so we could see how they are improving relatively to their competition.

Anyways, these are just my thoughts. Best of luck to both teams at States! Make some history!

Just to clarify some things, Harlan Rowe beat Bala Cynwyd at Rustin, and then lost to Bala at Garnet. They faced SSA at Cornell, where SSA beat Harlan by 24 points. They haven't beaten Springhouse, but then again, no PA B team has.

My take on this is that Harlan has a slightly greater chance at qualifying for nationals than CV, only because of the teams they're facing. Harriton and Lower Merion are both top-tier teams, and while CV did beat Lower Merion using stacked scores at Barons, the margin was small enough, and LM's performance at SOUP impressive enough, that they would have to be big favorites heading into states. Regionals scores, while sometimes flawed, bear this out. In the meantime, Harlan has already beaten Bala Cynwyd, and they were within striking distance of SSA at Cornell. 2nd place appears a bit more attainable in B division just based on the dynamics of the teams involved. This is not to say that CV has no chance at nationals, because they've been incredibly impressive as well, but if I had to put my chips on just one of the two teams, I'd go Harlan.
