I don't think the correlation has much relevance, but hopefully there'll be some interesting discussion.
Have you noticed any correlation that sparked this topic?

Ohio's latest state tournaments were from 2011-2014 (late April/early May); in 2010, 2015, and 2016, state was a few weeks earlier (significantly more so the last three years).

Can't speak for any of the teams that made nats those years, but for our school specifically the regionals-states gap is the most productive time period of any time of the year. At a school that's been more nationally competitive over this period like Solon or Centerville, perhaps the drive to actually get out of Ohio was greater than to win nats, so the longer the gap the more competetitive they were at nats? I doubt it though, Mason specifically hasn't been that much of a threat to the Solon/Centerville reign until 2015.

I also think Solon specifically had some really strong classes those years, as the Div. C teams from their threepeat were their initial middle school national champions as well.

Seems like usual. Is Westlake not in this region?

Don't think so. I think they are in the region to the west (at Saint Ignatius?)

Yeah, Westlake is in the Northern (not Northeast) region

Sylvania Northview's twitter account said they got 2nd: https://twitter.com/NVSciOly/status/835629874404593665

Also, I'm very surprised to see Mason so low. They had a very impressive showing at UPenn.

My mistake, I forgot to exclude New Albany from the rankings, though for Division B, New Albany's middle school was included. New rankings excluding New Albany are:
1. Westlake
2. Sylvania Northview
3. duPont Manual
4. Mason
5. Fort Laramie
6. Lancaster
7. Worthington Kilbourne
8. Olentangy

I was also surprised to see Mason low. Mason B did place right behind Mason A, so maybe their teams weren't completely stacked.
