SOnerd (also in another thread) wrote: Leading someone to believe that Coleoptera is a "family" is extremely offensive to myself and all other cult members. You should have pointed out that it cannot be a family, as it does not end in "-idae". If this "volunteer" person had any idea what she was talking about, she would know that all families in Kingdom Animalia end in "-idae". Letting this kind of ignorance continue to grow and fester (and then proudly posting about it) is extremely detrimental to society.
1)Yeah, it totally offends me that someone is confused about what families are. *sarcasm* #politicalcorrectness
2)Perhaps we should make a nerd squad to correct these misgivings of society. Introducing Teh Ento Knowledge Patrol!
To study Ento-Related Ignorance is to study walls. We have looked at barriers and fences, restraints and limitations, ghettos and prisons. The prison of ignorance confines us all, laypeople and cult members alike. It shackles the victimizer as well as the victim. The walls forcibly keep Ento Luvrz and non Ento-Luvrz separate from each other in their separate prisons. We are all prevented from achieving human potential that God intends for us. The limitations imposed on non Ento-Luvrz by this extreme ignorance are cruel, inhumane and unjust; the effects of uncontrolled power, privilege, and greed, which are the marks of our Ento prison, will inevitably destroy us as well. But we have also seen that the walls of this ignorance can be dismantled. We are not condemned to an inexorable fate, but are offered the vision and possibility of freedom. Brick by brick, stone by stone, the prison of Ento-Related ignorance can be destroyed. You and I are urgently called to join the efforts of those who know it is time to dear down once and for all, the walls of ignorance.

Happy to say that TEH BUGZ helped me get a 100 on a project in a non-STEM class for the first time in high school!

In case you can't tell, they are a Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, Histeridae, and Tineola. I know, my craft skills suck. Yes, I kept the abdomen and thorax seperate. I promise. Yes, I realize there are no antennae on either Diptera, but I had nothing small enough to accurately represent it.

Found some Corixidae at the beach recently! I found it quite odd- I didn't know they swam in salt water! Either way, i got to hold like 8 in my hand (Don't worry, I let them go)

Yay! I also found Notonectidae at my neighborhood pool one time in the summer, and I kept a few of them in a cup for a while. Then, one of my friends decided to flush them all down the toilet.
