All right :D ! What is the difference between an endemic and a hyperendemic?

Endemic: disease occurs constantly in a specific area
Hyperendemic: disease occurs at a constant high incidence and prevalence in a specific area

Adapted from CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report:
During 2008–2012, a total of 90 cases of trichinellosis, including five outbreaks, were reported to CDC from [insert random state here]. Of these 90 cases, six were excluded from analysis, including one that did not meet the case definition and five for which case report forms were not available.

What is a symptom of trichinellosis?
What are the criteria for a case definition?

After interviewing the 84 cases and 53 controls, 52 case-patients ate pork from Joe's Butcher Shop while only 19 controls ate pork from Joe's Butcher Shop.

What type of study design is this?
What is the odds ratio/relative risk (whatever is the most appropriate) for pork from Joe's Butcher Shop?

Would pork from Joe's Butcher Shop be considered a primary cause of trichinellosis?

I don't know how to hide answer because I'm new but here goes:
1. Diarrhea, Constipation
2. Clinical Information, Person, Location, Time Sequence
3. Case-Control
4. Odds Ratio= ad/bc = (52*34)/(32*19)= 1768/608= 2.91

Correct, and pork from Joe's Butcher Shop would be considered a primary cause of trichinellosis.
