Re: Physical Science Lab
Thanks! And it's kinda, umm, idk how much I can tell you about my design (if you're going to Solon invites you'll see it), but mass is nearly EVERYTHING. Try sanding down the CD, and use really light materials for blades, like plastic plates. Sometimes making it smaller will drastically improve your score, because of mass. Double the mass = half the voltage, and half the mass = double the voltage.

Re: Physical Science Lab
did you notice a change in mass? i went on an adventure in my garage and found some sandpaper [never knew i had any] so i got a CD and started sanding away. The mass of the CD increased by a gram. I didnt notice any change in the width of the CD.. all that happened was the paint and the shiny stuff came off. I guess i need to sand more?

Re: Physical Science Lab
We used very high grit sand paper, sanded for like 30 minutes, then cut the edges off, and finally smoothed it out will low grit sand paper. It took over an hour for the whole process, but it really decreased the mass.

Re: Physical Science Lab
BTW, you wanna sand on the flat side, not the edge. That's what you're doing, right? Just making sure.
