I got a slightly different answer, but really close. Did you round early or type a number wrong?

I got the same answer (233.13, to be more precise). Time for another question?

I did this one myself and got your answer. I guess the answer key on the test I was using was wrong :? . Time for another question

I thought I'd do an easier, multi-part mapping question:
The map below depicts an outcrop of quartzite. Is there a fold in the image? How do you know? If so, identify it (antiform/synform), and mark the hinge line and axial trace (either draw it on and re-upload the image or just describe the path of the two lines).

This problem shows up on the JCicc test in slightly modified form, by the way.

I tried my hand at mathdino's trig problem and got a true dip of 35 degrees. As everyone is getting a different answer, could mathdino/someone knowledgeable give the correct answer? Also, @ the person who got an answer of 37 degrees, how did you get that? I was a bit loose with sig figs (just trying to get an estimated answer), so it's conceivable that we're both doing it correctly.

I know I can get most of this one
There is a fold, it is a synform, and the hinge line goes along the "v-ing" so to speak of the contours at the bottom of the valley. In this case, would the axial trace be that same line? Not entirely sure
And yes a trigonometric solution to the three point problem would be most appreciated!

There is a fold, but the rest is wrong (and you didn't explain how you knew, either). It's really just a 3D visualization problem--it might help you if you imagine yourself standing in the stream, and draw what you would see looking at one of the banks. Also, the axial trace isn't the same line as the hinge line. As far as a 3-point trig solution, I'm not sure what I'm doing either. If no one knowledgeable shows up with a simpler/more intuitive solution, I'll post my method, but it's really strange, and I'm not too sure it works (because I have no way to check it).

I'll just throw out a new question for anyone who wants to try.

What type of fault is characterized by a dip that changes with depth? Eh kind of a wimpy knowledge question but I'm sick of all the mind-bending calculations :P
