One thing I'm still confused about is whether or not you can bring two pages of notes (double sided) if you only have one person competing.

The Rules would seem to come into conflict with this as it is only one sheet per student. However, I think that most if not all supervisors would allow two sheets, in the interest of fairness.

Yeah, I was able to use two notes during an invite, I was just making sure that we would be able to use two notes during Regionals

My experience has been that once you get to regionals the interpretation will be more literal, meaning one sheet per student means one sheet per student and not 2 sheet per team. If you are a team of one, then you should probably expect to only be able to use 1 sheet. Your coach should be prepared to have a second team member attend the test event if for no other eason than to help balance the scale so to speak.

Who is coming to the Solon Invitational this Saturday?

I went to Solon today. They had a pretty good meteorology test, though it didn't cover all topics. At least it was about severe storms instead of everyday weather. This was probably the best meteorology test I have taken this year, so far.

I saw the test. Helped file them into coaches books so I didn't get a detail view. Looked pretty comprehensive - long. Didn't see anything on sprites/jets. What else did you think was really missing? How did you do?

I think it could have gone more in depth with thunderstorms and hurricanes. It was missing sprites and jets, MCCs, and mudslides etc. We got 1st in the event.

Yes, sometimes the test writer can get fixated on one or two topics. There is a big umbrella of testable information and just got to be prepared for any and all of it. I competed in this event for 4 yrs, now in C but spend a lot of time as a student assistant coach. Congrats on your 1st place. Very tough competition. Consider that 5-6 of the top teams in the country were there, that is awesome. Good luck the rest of the year.

Just a quick follow up. The word I got from the Solon Invitation yesterday, it was very clear that it was one sheet per student, not 2 per team. If you were a single, then it was only 1 page of help notes.

That's the ruling I would use, too. Per student means one if there is only one student. That's not ambiguous at all. The question really becomes whether event supervisors are lax on that or not. I'm sure someone, somewhere, would let one student slip by with two cheat sheets. But, there's no reason to worry because you should always bring a partner with!
