I'm not sure what you mean by "second class lever", but whatever you're doing sounds fine!

Sorry, i meant the second class lever in the compound lever task (if you're using a second class lever in it)

can a lever be attached to a string, which is then attached to a pulley? would this count as a parallel task?

No it wouldn't. Parallel is two different streams of action happening at once.
