Koko, aubrey, and fm were protected correctly.

Koko is for clue 5. Both FM and Aubrey were protected for clue 2 and they were both correctly protected, which answers your question quadratic. You can be accidentally protected for the wrong clue.
I am pretty sure Koko is clue 5.
FM is clue 2, so aubrey can be clue 1, 3, or 4.- It might be 4, although I did not find any filmmaker named aubrey. But-- "And when you think about it, no one has a name like him." Aubrey is an uncommon boy's name which could refer to this.
I don't think it's clue 3.
Clue 1 is very likely, as both 3 and 4 are unlikely.

Well anyway... sigh... I've made no progress on the clues. The ones we haven't made any headway on befuddle me. Like others here I'm positive the first one is a url in some form, but its near impossible to tell what format it is without brute forcing through sites. I'm fairly certain its just a caesarian shift a few characters, but I doubt even if we found the right amount to shift with the cipher would it show up in a google search, since its basically randomized characters.

Speaking of random... I protect myself for the connection with the "Random" letters and my username.
