Re: Solar System B
I am unsure of what else I can add to my notes. I have scientists, auroras, sattelite surfaces and atmospheres, effects of planets and sattelites, planetary motion, seasons, tides, lunar, solar eclipses, lunar, planetary motion, the laws, terrestrial and gaseous planets, and my partner is writing the other half of the subjects in the guide book. What else do you think I need?
I got 2nd place in WIDI Kansas state competition in 2010-2011!

Re: Solar System B
Generally, expanding on the rules is a good idea. Event supervisors will sometimes include things not stated in the rules, so going in depth/putting things that aren't in the rules are good ideas in case something like that happens.tying15 wrote:I am unsure of what else I can add to my notes. Re: Solar System B
Personally, I don't like to make my notesheets until there's only a few weeks until the competition, because the things that I put on the notesheet are the things I'm having the most trouble with. I would advise you to do the same (the putting-info-you're-having-trouble-with-on-your-notesheet part, not the procrastinating part).
Also, Solar System is a very broad event...as a general rule for studying, I would recommend going as in-depth as possible. It's better to have extra info that you studied but never had to use than to find out that the test goes more in-depth than what you studied.

Re: Solar System B
Really? What I do is I write my notes as I study, that way I have as much as possible on my notes. Then if there's something that I missed on the test, I go back and study that and add it to my notes.AlphaTauri wrote:Personally, I don't like to make my notesheets until there's only a few weeks until the competition, because the things that I put on the notesheet are the things I'm having the most trouble with. I suppose it's just preference, though.

Re: Solar System B
Then again, you might get a lower score on the test that you used as an "experiment" on to what to put on the note sheet...
you could do it at an invitational, but those tests are often poorly made

Re: Solar System B
With two full pages of two sided notes I would put on as much as possible. Fill up both sheets, then if you find you need to add some more, go back and remove some stuff you might not need. I color code everything in my notes to that even though I use no paragraphs or line breaks at all and everything is size 5 font, I can still easily find the answer to just about any question pretty quickly.

What font do you use? Some are easier to read at smaller sizes than other. Also, despite being the same font size, take up more space. I am just curious.brobo wrote:With two full pages of two sided notes I would put on as much as possible. Re: Solar System B
You shouldnt rely entirely on the note sheet; after all, you should know the stuff since youre in the event. Usually I just put the laws, dates, and other stuff that is harder to memorize
other than that, you should know the other things on the test..
i would use a readable font (like size 8)
so you dont have to spend 10 minutes looking for information
but still get alll that you need on the sheet

Re: Solar System B
Any sans serif font (Calibri, Arial, Trebuchet, Raavi, etc.) should work for notesheets, although, like HannahD413 said, some are "wider" than others.
Personally, I stick to size 7 or so font, because it's hard for me to read anything smaller than that.
