I disagree, trees are very interesting. Although, I agree that there should be an event for mammalogy. Cetology, not so much.

Optics sounds interesting also, I might do it next year.

I do not think trees are a good idea. Also i think they are going to put in some type of music/sound event.

Obstacle Course = Pentathlon XD

Forestry was an event way back when I was in 7th and 8th grade, and I have to say, it was really a lot of fun. I wasn't great at it (my partner was, though, and we somehow managed a 2nd place at States, we were shocked), but I enjoyed it, and now I can't pass a tree without trying to identify it.

Besides, they'd never do an event on mammalogy or cetology because they'd never be able to give live samples (except for some small mammals like rodents or lagomorphs). In my opinion, Forestry was a much better event than Herpetology.

Trajectory's gonna be gone. At States the other day for Div C, I saw so many perfect runs with bucket shots that they'd be crazy not to end it, or at least limit size or construction a LOT. They might do trebuchets, though.

Sound of music is a cool event, but it really doesn't require a whole lot of science. if you can tinker, you can do that event. But, if they had you explain harmonic series or even just the concept of your instrument, and/or make a written test, that would be more fair

As for Sumo, it's been a NYS Trial for 3 years now, so NYS teams will completely waste everyone at Nats if it stays. My guess is that they rest it for 2 years, then bring it back on a national level, and in the meantime make another robotics event like Robot Ramble or something similar.

I know last May or so, they posted a tentative list for B and C divs, so we'll be waiting on that

Too bad Trajectory's going to be gone. I was looking forward to almost taking out more hallway lights...

They've already done circulatory and muscular in the past two years, so those are out. Maybe respiratory? At least it would be less unpleasant than digestive.
