Picture IRC but there's multiple channels and add a dark color scheme and voice chat and emotes

Wait if we're saying May 10-16 for the competition, don't we still have school we have to do then?

JoeyC wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:32 am Further, if you don't want to spend that much time on tests, there are events like Machines and WaQua (AKA Lever Lover and Marine Biology) that have shorter tests in comparison to other events cause a decent part of the event is the build portion.
Very specific warning to the person writing WQ/Marine Bio: treat it as if it were all test, as testing the build is only 5% and bringing the build in is only 5%. The test should not be shorter than a standard event, or competitors will be extremely disappointed(cough Regionals). Also, I believe the build portion will need to be scrapped, as it’s not feasible to ship a salinity solution to every competitor, and the test portion is the major part of the event anyway.
I speak with at least some degree of experience as I competed on it for two years and wrote/proctored it at JTSO.

Similarly, how would testing the build for Lever Lover work? It will likely need to be scrapped as I don’t believe mailing weights across the country would work. Maybe have diagrams of builds and have teams calculate it(I don’t do Lever Lover so sorry if it already is part of the test)?

I think labs like Crime Evidence Analysis/Forensics will need to give test results(fizzes in HCl, soluble, etc.). It takes an important aspect of the event away, but I can’t think of any workaround without mailing unlabeled powders around the country with questionable legality.

I'm interested in competing and it sounds great that you're all volunteering your time to do this. But would this be team-based or individual-based?

And can people (if they want) try out other events that they may be interested in? Cuz I'm in div. B and I've always wanted to try codebusters/UltraTuringTime.
We don't talk about Pentathlon.

Just to keep people updated: The merge was successful, the data from the other poll was merged into mine and the servers were merged together as well.
Currently, these are the links for all involved:

Pseudonats Discord Server: https://discord.gg/ZB9Kj6y
Volunteer Sign-up Form: https://forms.gle/mfNKZC5XCbxxr4dZ6
Volunteer Spreadsheet (Populated with data from above form & old spreadsheet): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Volunteers will receive access to server roles and test-writing specific channels in the coming days.
I will make a Google Drive for the purposes of storing tests, etc.

If you are unable or unwilling to use Discord as a communications platform, let me know, I will see if I can patch in an IRC channel or similar.

The nice thing about this online format is we can do everything asynchronously.
I'm going to write some scripts (or maybe just abuse Google's stuff) to time test deliveries, et. al, so the only thing teams need to coordinate times for is building event proctoring.
The competition will occur "whenever it's ready", i.e whenever everything is organized and tests are done. I can't give a date on this yet.

Discord is a proprietary web/electron based chat application. It's inspired by IRC but supports multimedia, scrollback, and voice chat (as well as video), and thus suits our purposes well. However, not everyone likes proprietary software, so over the next few days I'm going to work to set up either an IRC bridge or a Matrix one so rms and others without Discord can connect.

Many links and other information are posted in the Discord, although if anyone wants to keep this forum post updated they are welcome to. If you have volunteered but are unable to join, please PM me so I can contact you about tests in the future, and be sure to indicate it in your form submissions.
