I havn't tested if the sponge works yet but here is how it is supposed to work, Normally when the wheel stops the wingnut hit a wall inside the scrambler If you put a sponge on the wall it will slow down before stopping, Preventing skidding. I'll get a diagram showing where this goes and the results for the scrambler test run up soon.

i understand now, but what i did was i took a regular nut, and i glued it onto the axle(at around the center part) when the wingnut spins it hits the regular nut and just stops, last year this worked fine, but this year for some reason it will hit the nut, and then go backwards about a foot or so. I don't know why this is happeneing but it use to just stop. any ideas why this is happening?

When it comes to rest after going that foot or so...has the wingnut retreated back up the axle some or is it still locked against the regular nut?

put the nut on the other side of it

No it goes the correct way then it hits the other nut, which is suppose to stop it, but instead of stopping it, it stops, but the recoils backwards basicly attempt at a pic. ---- is the axle. (... is for spacing purposes ignore)
............. /
-------------()----[]-----
............./
./
() is the wingnut while [] is the regular nut while --- is the axle and while ... is for spacing
/
............../
-------------()[]-------, this is how its suppose to stop, and it does but then it goes
............./
.........../
----------()---[]----- it goes back like this and the car moves like a foot backwords
........../

Well there might be a few things, maybe its going a little faster than last year, see if you can slow it down. Also I got success with my wing nut!!! :D

Nice now you know why you need that suspension rod.

Pleiades wrote:I was thinking about that over the summer. I dont remember reading anything in last year's rules that would forbid that but hey that was last year so it's irrelevant to this year and i dont remember exactly what every rule was. I'll check the rules on tuesday. I would think once the string reached full length it would pull the scrambler back to the launcher so it wouldnt be ideal but i'll check on tuesday unless someone else has the rules with them and wants to answer

EDIT/ i just found my rules from last year and 3.b says stuff about the breaking mechanism has to be completely inside the car and work automatically. I dont think your idea would be considered completely inside the car but remember, this is last years rules and it may be different this year. i dont see why they would remove this but check your 2009 rules and see if that rule is still in there. if it is then i doubt you will be allowed to do that.
It would work if the wheels could only go forward

The new rules say "The stopping mechanism must work automatically and be contained completely within the egg transport.
