Try club soda or carbonated water.

I saw some teams attempt to do this at NJ States. It's legal but from what I saw it wasn't very reliable.

Yes, we used seltzer bottles last year. Try vintage seltzer for a "normal" soda bottle shape but you could also experiment with polar seltzer.

There's also Canada dry ginger ale.

Idk why you cant find any brand of carbonated beverage bottles that come in 1L sizes, look for regular plastic water bottles, carbonated water, soda, other beverages, most brands should have 1 liter size bottles. Carbonated water seems to be the most cheap, regular water's fine too.

Although you probably won't ever get called out for this, the rules specify a carbonated beverage bottle, so a bottle for regular water is technically not allowed.

I'd say SmartWater, but that's not carbonated :(

I was in this event for NC, at states in 2018 winning time was around 30-ish seconds (I can't remember the specific time)
Was there a max psi/what was the ceiling height?

Winning times for nj states were around 8 seconds for the past two years, max psi of 40...
I think max psi might have been 40 psi (don't take my word for it)
Ok this is epic 8-)

Theoretically, we could have the whole rocket disassemble and come raining down as long as nothing touches the ceiling...

As an ES I'd definitely not let you fly with a regular water bottle.

The reason that carbonated beverage bottles are mandated is that carbonated beverages are pressurized. Thus, their bottles are designed to hold some amount of pressure.

Regular water bottles are not pressurized, and are typically much thinner. Using a regular water bottle could be dangerous.
