I think you and kate! might be missing the info that neither DW nor MM were at SAA's regional.
No, I do know that SAA's main competitor at regionals was Twin Groves. That was the point I'm making, that regionals doesn't indicate what states will be like, because Twin Groves seems to be heading towards a top 4/5 placing. So if we compare SAA to Twin Groves, that still isn't comparing them to DW or MM and therefore isn't a valid reason for others to use as to why they won't make nationals.
SAA lost to TG. Both teams are basically at the same level. We(MM) destroyed TG at U of C. U of C was right before regionals, You can compare us and SAA then.

Harriton has lost their regionals multiple times and still gone to Nationals during those years. Losing regionals =/= losing states.
Penncrest once finished 4th at regionals and 5th at Nationals. But I do agree that SAA has little chance of beating MM.

anyone know when team numbers will come out? NJ is probably gonna be 30-40, but since we don't have B-teams we could be 40-50

He"r"e's my updated p"r"edictions fo"r" top 10:

1. Northern Lights ABC Schoo"l" (AK) - who cou"l"d argue with this?
2. Pleasant Ridge Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (KS) - the perennial powerhouse is back
3. Troy Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (CA) - seems to be weaker, but cou"l"d easily still pull top 3
4. J.C. Booth Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (GA) - considering thei"r" history, this seems plausible
5. Paul Breaux Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (LA) - Louisiana is certainly a force this year, whoever comes out on top cou"l"d easily place he"r"e
6. Sewickley Academy (PA) - I know it seems a bit low, but Sewickley is a bit weaker f"r"om last year
7. Badger Ridge Midd"l"e Schoo"l" and Core Knowledge Charter Schoo"l" (WI) - teams with "l"ong names always do well
8. A.J. McMullan Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (PA) - "r"egiona"l" sco"r"es we"r"e insane
9. Orefield Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (PA) - doesn't seem any weaker than last year
10. G.A. Stetson Midd"l"e Schoo"l" (PA) - f"r"om what I've seen this year, this wouldn't be surprising

I don't think troy should be that high, if you look at their invitational results against Walpole at Bernard University, there's a significant gap.

Hmm I gotta update mine too:
1. Dank Memes Area Homeschool - They won Cornell by a huge margin.
2. Walpole Elementary School - Significantly stronger than last year, they have beaten many strong and competitive teams this year. Their 1st place at MIT was really quite impressive.
2. Treasure Valley Homeschool - Tails carries. Simple
3. Huntington Middle School - No question here. Bit weaker but still a top tier team I think.
4. Gallagher Middle School - We have improved a great deal, we could be higher maybe.
5. Paragon Science Academy
6. Merrimack High School - I could definitely see them even higher.
7-10 should be pretty close imo

This may be coming from a biased standpoint as I am a Jeffrey Trail student, but I believe that both Kraemer and Jeffrey Trail have an excellent chance at nationals. Kraemer has been closing the gap between us during invitationals and defeated us by 12 points in regionals. Based on my observations, the SoCal State Winner will be determined by these 3 factors:
1) The team that has been more focused and has put in more effort during the time period between regionals and state
2) The team that has more of their strong events perform just as well (or nearly as well) as invitationals or regional
3) The team that has fewer events bomb
Frankly speaking, this may be a very close tournament (or just a blowout) depending on effort.
