There are a few more good sites on the wiki also. If you decide to use the practice tests though, I think that it's a good idea to order the maps used for the test. Even though just reading through a test helps, actually working on something that you could see in the competition really helps.

Our school has topographical maps for Earth/Space Science that we used to study from. If you have them, perhaps you can use them to study?

I'm sure that stuff helps, but really, I wouldn't have been able to do anything in this event if I hadn't taken practice tests. This is my third year doing
road scholar and I've done the same thing each year. I go through the rules and learn everything on the list. After I've done that, I start doing one practice test a week. One practice test a week starting in January means about 8 tests before the regional competition, a good amount. What I'm trying to say is that it's really important to take a lot of practice tests if you can get the tests and the maps.

You're right, the map drawing is important too. Studying for that is not as easy however. There is the one practice map drawing on soinc.org, but i don't know of any other than that. I think that if you know all the basics of quadrangles, and you have a topographic map symbols sheet, then you should have no problem with the map drawing. In Pennsylvania, it is always third in number of points behind quadrangles and state highway maps. This doesn't mean that it's not important, but it is not as crucial as the other two sections. If you already know all the basics though, the map drawing normally should not be a problem.
