As of today, Cinco de Mayo, there has been one confiremed death of a US citizen. I really think you are all over reacting to swine flu think about it, the flu kills thousands of people per year and swine flu has clamed 31 lives so i think people are just over reacting. plus the deaths in Mexico most of those people died of pnemonia not H1-N1.

I think that many people are overreacting. But, this flu is not like the normal flu, no one is immune (unless they have some unique gene that is able to defend them from this flu) because it is a completely new strain. Also the people who are hurt by this flu, unlike the other types of flu, include young healthy people. That is suprising and causing tension because the thousands of people that die every year from the normal flu are very old or small babies (they have weak immune systems).
Although there are not many deaths or illnesses right now, the numbers are expected to grow as we reach fall and winter (the flu seasons). So in other words, the flu's effects are weak right now because it is not its strongest season (spring, summer). Hopefully by then, scietists at the WHO and CDC will be able to create a vaccine to this flu.
Also, the lady that died on "Cinco de Mayo" ;) had just given birth...so she was already somewhat weak...she also had other health problems. As SweetCoop said many of the deaths are not caused by the swine flu DIRECTLY, other small infections like the common cold attack the weakened immune systems and the person dies...or gets severly sick.
So basically, don't overreact now...save it for later....

Yeah- as everyone else has said, people are overreacting...

Also, some dude on my science olympiad team told me that more people have died from getting hit on the head than from the swine flu. I'm not sure if this is true, but that's what he said....

And, my school was supposed to be closed for a week because some sixth grader got it but it ended up opening on thursday instead of monday :(

Well yeah. Talking in absolute numbers, that should be obvious. Think about how many people have died from head injuries in history, compared to swine flu, which has only been around for a month.

What the crap? A whole country only has one pig? Strange.

And that is total overreaction. I mean, really.
